About Us
Schuh Farms - Since 1963
We are a Skagit valley family farm that provides fresh produce, pies, baked goods, fresh fruit shakes, canned goods, eggs, plant starts, flowering baskets and fresh flower bouquets.
Our History, from then…
Steve and Susan Schuh were married October 5, 1963 and have been farming ever since. They purchased their first farm ground in the Skagit Valley. It was 80 acres on Bradshaw Road that was owned by Bub & Ruth Lockhart. So, Steve started growing fresh green peas for 3 local processors. Over the years the farm grew seed crops, wheat, and barley.
In the late 1970’s Susan convinced Steve to plant a U-Pick strawberry field. This proved to be a lot of fun for the Schuh family. They put up a berry stand to sell strawberries that were picked by local neighbor kids (and some for their parents). Next they added raspberries. They sent berries to a local processor. Soon the Mount Vernon Farmers market opened and Susan was part of the first market with her beautiful berries.
We had so much fun getting to visit with our customers we decided to focus on being a fresh market farm. So we added corn and then pumpkins. By the late 1980’s we had outgrown our berry stand and its location. We were lucky and found our wonderful location where we are today.
To now.
We now grow seven varieties of berries, and still offer U-Pick! We pick corn August through October and pickling cucumbers the entire month of August. July and August also brings beautiful stone fruit, fresh from the Yakima Valley. We grow amazing pumpkins, squash, and gourds and enjoy having visitors at our farms for a wonderful Fall harvest (We’ve been called “A kidriffic place to play”).
The Schuh’s love sharing their farm all the way through December from Thanksgiving decor and fresh basked pies to an amazing holiday store, handmade fresh wreaths, and fresh cut trees; with uncut fields being planted every year.
So come visit us at our farm store where you will find our fresh berries & veggies, canned pickles & olives, jams & syrups, pies, baked goods, seasonal decor, fresh flower bouquets, shakes & espresso and so much more!
Today you can find us at 11 farmers markets weekly and our berry stand in Mount Vernon during Summer months.
